Just look at the guy – he screams sleazeball. Does he care about anything except his own greed (oh yes, bomb anyone who doesn’t love Israel). This scumbag decided to throw a ton of money into the election (and fortunately it was all wasted) just to defend himself. This article, while completely speculative, does seem reasonable.
This “this is the business we have chosen”, from Godfather, comes to mind. Naturally Shel (or better, Shil) doesn’t actually think he’s done anything wrong (how can the casino business be anything except corrupt) and his legal troubles are just persecution by political figures who don’t like him. So he figured he could buy the election and a grateful Romney would quickly drop the criminal prosecutions. Could there be any more blatant bribery.
Now that that didn’t work out, recently he has dropped some more threats, that next cycle he’ll even spend twice as much. Obviously he thinks his threats are so very scary now he can merely intimidate DOJ into giving up. Plus he’s decided the cliff will happen so he’s declared himself an early payday while dividend rates remain low.
So if Romney was the perfect image of the plutocrat candidate this disgusting lowlife is the poster boy of why big money gets into politics and how utterly crazy SCOTUS (and dear old royalist Scalia who dreams of bringing back monarch) is in the Citizens United.
Well, Shil, I hope cosmic karma solves your problem and maybe you won’t be trying to buy another election.
