Weird and scary WordPress.com feature

Is this really what happens?

I created a post with a URL to a post in another website entirely. Then I was checking my stats and noticed that URL was a referer [sic] to my post. I checked that website and sure enough somehow there seems to be a comment attributed to me.

HOW did that get there? I didn’t comment on that blog (esp. as my comment slightly violates the policy of that blog, plus I really don’t want to make comments there).

Did WordPress.com somehow auto-comment at the other blog? If so, that is really awful behavior and I don’t want it. I know that WordPress.com creates a pingback comment to other blogs within WordPress.com that I cite, but how does it cross this boundary, esp. as it’s necessary to actually login in order to comment at the other blog.
