I mentioned in several recent posts how rain has been a challenge, especially outside. But every now and then it’s gentle and pretty.
This photo comes from a visit to a natural preserve wetland. It was raining on and off as we were touring so the light was dim and diffused by the clouds. All the actual standing water was shallow and filled with organic material, hence the color. There was little wind so the surface was calm except for the rain. Actually this shot was from a significant distance at nearly the full range of my telephoto so I’ll pleased the focus was as good as it was.
This visit was part of an all-day trip arranged by the Nebraska Ag Extension office to visit producers trying alternatives to the usual mass row crops. The main reason we stopped here was for lunch and it was in-between two farms. Some of the group took the interpretative walk which provided a number of shots of native plants (you’ll see some of those in the future) and lots of birds. In the very wet areas we were on man-made boardwalk and otherwise on dirt path. It was quite pleasant but I have no clue where this was since it was just wherever the bus took us.
